KNW Professionals Ltd is a consulting firm dedicated to providing high-quality Power Systems studies, engineering services, and technical expert advice in a prompt, flexible and cost-effective manner. We are a group of highly qualified electrical engineers based in Alberta, Canada.
Our expertise is on system planning and engineering for utilities, generation, transmission, and distribution owners, and participated industrial customers. We help our customers with Power Systems-related modeling and study tasks required in the project planning, design, and delivery stages. We specialized in performing all generation interconnection and transmission planning studies, such as power flow, dynamic, and EMTP studies using proper tools, such as PSS/E, DSA Tools, PSCAD/EMTDC, EMTP, and ETAP. We also specialized in grounding design, AC interference studies and EMF simulation using CDEGS, EPRI software packages and Comsol.

Carl is the founder and principal engineer of KNW Professionals Ltd. He is an experienced power system study engineer specializing in transmission system planning, equipment specification, and special studies for transmission systems and generations. He has over 18 years of experience in power flow, short circuit, voltage stability, transient stability, small-signal stability, and electromagnetic transient (EMT) studies for various projects. He has more than two years of experience in the programming of commercial power system analysis software (DSATools). He has performed planning studies for many different utilities/ISOs, including AESO, NYISO, PJM, CAISO, Manitoba Hydro, NYISO, and others. He has also performed EMT studies, including insulation coordination, breaker TRV studies, and reactor sizing of 500 kV transmission lines, etc.
Within KNW team, we have experts in interconnection studies, facility design, Grounding design, AC interference study, Arc flash study, EMF environmental assessment and many more.
